Meet an Ebay Seller....
Discover Daisha East !

Strep Tattoo
(All photos on this page by Daisha East.)

If you love African violets and have access to a computer, chances are you have browsed the African violet items available on Ebay.

One seller who offers African violet plants, leaves, and leaf pots is Luvsavs.  Half of the July 2005 Bingo prizes are leaf pots from this Ebay seller.

Who is Luvsavs?  Daisha East, 30ish, lives in North Carolina. By day, she earns a living as a medical professional. Her 'luv for avs' is very obvious: "When everyone sees my African violets, they all think I'm a little crazy! LOL!! My husband calls our house the 'Jungle'!" Daisha grows "about 500 different varieties -- the last I counted!" (Ness' Fantasy Gold, above)

"I grow 95% of my avs under artificial lighting.  I do have a few grown in natural light.  I use a soil containing peat moss, vermiculite, perlite, diatomaceous earth, charcoal, earthworm castings, limestone, and Marathon to guard against mealy bugs.  I wick or bottom water most of my plants.  (A bit of Daisha's growing areas, below)

Daisha's favorite hybridizers?  "I love the Wrangler's, Apache's, and Sorano -- can't pick just one!!!"  "I prefer the semi's and standards.  I have not had much luck with the miniatures because they seem to require more care than the others.  The mini's seem to sucker too much for me.  My absolute favorites are the chimeras and I love anything variegated or with green in the blooms." (Red Lantern, by Sorano, above)

Owning her own business is in the plans for the future.  In the meantime, Daisha is currently experimenting in hybridizing.  "My goal would be to produce a yellow or green chimera!!"  (Bue Dragon by Sorano, above)

We wish Daisha continued success with her violets and THANK HER very much for her support of our group!
