Members alone are responsible for ensuring that their email address is not visible in their member profile, but are highly recommended to do so. Members' email addresses must not be harvested for spam purposes. Anyone wishing to send a private email to another member or manager must obtain his or her express permission on the message boards beforehand.
Copyright, advertising and Links Policy
All members are individually responsible for upholding the MSN Code of Conduct and Terms of Use, especially with regard to copyright. Please do not post any copyrighted material at Horoscopeschat; instead link to it.
Any copyrighted material whatsoever quoted from at Horoscopeschat must be very brief (max. 50 words) and clearly credited to its source and author as appropriate. Do not quote longer extracts from books or copy from other websites without the express permission of the copyright holders.
The posting of advertisements for other web sites at HOROSCOPESCHAT is not permitted except on 'Web Links' page, where they may be edited by the managers. Any advertisements posted on other pages will be removed. Persistent spammers, and first-time posters of advertising for 'adult' sites, for their own commercial sites, and for invitations to join other MSN Groups, may be banned immediately from the group with no warning. This is a purely educational and community website.
Provided that you have no personal vested interest in the site concerned as its owner, manager, assistant manager, relative of owner, etc., and that the link is made in a spirit of shared learning, not of advertising some commercial offer or recruiting new members or clients for the other site, it is permitted to post on any message board appropriate to their topic direct links to particular articles, file downloads, quizzes, features etc. located on other websites, excluding other astrology-focused sites within MSN Groups, all sites having 'adult' or violent content, and sites of a primarily commercial nature that do not have an astrological focus or a sufficiently educational, artistic, or otherwise relevant purpose. You are allowed to link to your own personal blog, diary or profile sites of a non-commercial nature that are free from 'adult' and violent content.
If you are taking material from your own site for which, therefore, no permission is required, please specify this but do not link to the source, since this would amount to unauthorised advertising.
Message board moderation
When you post a message to any board, a pop-up notice that the group is moderated will appear. Please confirm your submission. New members' first few messages are moderated (please allow up to 24 hours each time) to filter out unauthorised advertising and 'adult' content and language, posts appearing to undermine the stability and reputation of the group or its management, and any personal, racial, religious or sexual insults, threats, harassment or slanders.
Posts in AdvancedAstro are for the serious study of astrology. They must be on their thread topic, and exclude non-astrological posts, basic sun-sign-level observations and personal astrological interpretation requests. Posts in AstroRequests, Astropedia and New Members must also be on their board and thread topics. Posts on the Politics/Astro board will be strictly moderated.
Posts are not moderated with regard to the views or opinions expressed, writing style, personality, grammar or spelling; Horoscopeschat keenly champions freedom of speech and diversity of viewpoints and people, and welcomes all topics suitable for an all-ages group, not just astrology.
Posts which seem through malice or bad faith to undermine the reputation of the site and its management will be deleted. See 'Complaints Procedure' below. Individuals failing to adhere to these rules will have their messages all moderated in future, and if persistent may even be banned from the group.
All members who have established an unbroken record of compliant posts are set to automatic approval of postings (although the pop-up continues to appear, owing to an MSN system limitation).
Members who attempt to post non-compliant posts while on moderated status will have their period of moderated status extended, possibly indefinitely. Unmoderated members who lapse into posts that have to be deleted from the boards will be returned to moderated status.
An all-ages-safe (mature-rated) community
Please note this community is set to 'Mature-rated' meaning 'SAFE FOR ALL AGED 13+' but some discussions may be on mature topics. This means that photographic content and language that are not suitable for under-18s is not permitted, especially sexual and violent imagery, and any apparent breaches of this guideline are liable to result in content being deleted without notice by any one of the managers. Within these parameters, this is a very liberal and free community, and polite conversations on all topics except politics are welcomed. If breaches of these guidelines are allowed to carry there is the very real risk of MSN disabling or deleting the entire site without warning. So please respect our vigilance in enforcing them.
1) Screen names and message board postings are not allowed to contain the F word or other sexual / obscene anatomical profane slang.
2) Postings of a sexually or violently graphic nature even without profanity are disallowed, as are links to sites containing them. They may be deleted outright at managers' discretion. Any postings at all written in a gratuitously profane or 'adult' spirit will be deleted.
3) Postings hateful or insulting to racial, religious, sexual or gender groups, social minorities, and named individuals are completely unacceptable and will be deleted.
4) In photographs, nudity or half-nudity is not allowed and photographs which breach this will be deleted.
Be kind, tolerant and respectful
We aim to keep Horoscopeschat a civilised, friendly and truly caring environment for everyone to enjoy. Abusive behavior in any form will not be tolerated. Examples of abuses include but are not limited to: campaigns (or even isolated instances) of insults towards and negative insinuations about other members of the group or its managers, whether on the boards or by email; angry, derisory, mocking or disrespectful responses to messages or creative writing (especially where the messages concerned were not even directed at the angry person, who has simply intruded in a manner designed to crush the other's freedom of expression); and the posting of private correspondence with other members of the group or with others likely to be known personally to other members of the group.
Complaints procedure
All criticisms of site policy and management worded with malice or in bad faith, and any complaints about particular actions by managers, must be sent in emails to managers, not posted on the boards. Well-intended questions and queries, and helpful and polite suggestions for modifications or additions to existing rules, are welcome on the boards, however. MSN has disabled the Email Managers link from Member Tools, so do not attempt to use this, as no email will reach us. Please see the 'Complaints/Queries' page for instructions. Likewise to report personally insulting posts or ones that breach the mature rating guidelines or other rules. In this case, include in your email a precise URL link to the offensive post.
Horoscopeschat is not a funded charity or advertising-sponsored organisation but an unfunded, part-time, voluntarily managed website with no fixed or guaranteed schedule of moderation by volunteers, and delays of up to 24 hours, sometimes 72 hours, before action is taken to delete posts reported as offensive must be routinely expected. In the meantime please ignore the offensive post(s) patiently and with personal detachment. Generalised complaints against a particular member without a specific URL link to each and every message perceived as offensive are useless. Deletions will be undertaken at managerial discretion and are not guaranteed as a response to complaints. Complaints worded disrespectfully, angrily or rudely to managers, or unreasonably or impatiently demanding in tone are liable to be ignored without reply. We are volunteers, not verbal punch-bags or tools of manipulation in personal conflicts, and please treat us with the same civility you expect from others. Acceptance of these conditions of service is a prerequisite for participation on the messageboards.
Readings policy
Anyone is allowed to request a reading at any time, and anyone is free to respond. No response is guaranteed as from time to time readers may have too many other commitments. Respondents freely volunteer their own time and hard work on readings, and are at liberty to decline or delay requests. If you request a reading you are also agreeing for your birth details and chart to be posted on the message boards. No readings or advice may be charged for.
No responsibility will be accepted by the site or its managers for actions taken as a result of readings or advice given. Readings and advice are given in a personal capacity by individuals, not representing the site as a whole, and only as ideas to optionally consider and those to whom they are given are solely responsible for actions taken as a result of said readings or advice. Natal and relationship astrology readings and dream interpretation do not constitute divination or fortune-telling and are therefore deemed to be safe and legal for all ages seeking them.
