The Social Security Disability Coalition was created because we are concerned with ALL aspects of what transpires when a claimant files for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)/Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, from the first point of contact with the Social Security Administration, through all stages of the disability benefit claims process, including final claim resolution. We are a national grass roots organization made up of disabled individuals, and supported by professionals, representatives, and organizations in the disability, social service, medical, and legal fields, and many others who are deeply concerned about the way fragile populations in this country are suffering under the SSDI/SSI application process. This group and their experiences, are a very accurate reflection and microcosm of what is happening to millions of SSDI/SSI applicants every day. Unlike other groups, our MAIN focus is on SSDI/SSI program and legislative reform. Our objective is to accumulate a constituency, and data that will assist us in tracking trends and other information necessary for a full assessment that can be presented to legislators and media, in order to very rapidly implement the changes we seek.
We continually collect information related to the protocols used by the Social Security Disability Insurance program. We search for systematic patterns of abuse in those protocols, and or arbitrary actions, that cause one of our most fragile populations, the disabled, undue stress, economic hardship, and further detriment to their health and wellbeing. Our intent is to reach critical mass, affecting policy and protocol change. In addition, we also offer our members, FREE comprehensive information, resources and much needed support. While we never represent claimants in their individual cases, we educate/assist the disabled on how to file a SSDI/SSI claim, in order to have the best chance of winning their case, no matter what phase of the disability claims process they are at. Success will be dictated by belief in the right to human dignity, and your faith in us to help deliver a format and foundation for change.
We ask that all members sign the The Social Security Disability Reform Petition and share your experiences. This petition is a crucial tool that is necessary in order to elevate this issue before Congress and the public.
