Tina's Journal
| | Tina's Journal 5/7/2007 Wow this is great a new Journal, it's nice to have a place to write note's about my plant's. This last weekend I added another plant stand. This one is in my bedroom in front fo my sliding glass window, no direct sunlight, but Im wondering maybe it wont be enough sunlight, time will tell. I have lot's of Strep babies to plant up, thus the new plant stand for the growing babies. I think my husband thinks I've lost my mind with all these plants, now he's sleeping with them..lol. I simple tell him they are here to beautify his home, plus look at all the nice comment's we get. We had beautiful sunshine today which I used to take just a few pictures of a couple bloomer's, nothing like that natural light for picture's. | |

| | Tina's Journal 5/8/2007 Tonight once I get the toddler down I'd liketo work on getting my streps seperated from mom, and potted into their own pots. I've got two tray's full of babies, exactly how many, I dont really know. Im so glad I have that new stand, it's going to come in very handy. Im wondering if I can add photo's into this entry..I'll have to give it a try......Im off to take pic's of Strep's. Oh hey it does work..Ok here are the tray's of strep. They are a bit out of control to say the least. I'll add another entry to update on how many I pull off. | |

| | Tina's Journal 5/9/2007 Darn it I didn't get to those tray's of strep's yet, maybe today. Today is also Neem day, everything will be sprayed in hope's to ward of critter's. My experiment with adding a plant heating pad is going to go into effect tomorrow on a tray of struggling babies. I think I might have taken the dome off to soon for them so they are growing a bit slowly. So back on goes the dome, with a little extra heat added..Should prove to be interesting, I think Im going to have a major growth spurt with the added heat. Am I only one that is paranoid of getting bug's? I've never had mite's or mealies, but Im not sure I'd even know if I had mite's since I've never seen an infested plant. Mealies I've seen before on member's plants, but mite's never. Oh I've seen the picture's, but it's just not the same as witnessing it with your own eye's. I at one time thought I had mite's and dumped many young plants, later I realized it was only a case of over fertilizing the youngsters But live and learn, which has been my case with AV's. Im off to finish Neeming. | |

| | Tina's Journal 5/10/2007 I forgot to add that I got my order in from Violet Showcase, very quick shipping I may add. I received some more pan pots, clear pans to put under pots, for spillage, and hangers to add to my pot's for hanging. | |

| | Tina's Journal 5/10/2007 I have a few minutes of sanity left before Jacob wake's from his nap. Figured I'd come here and type a bit. Today I got the tray of struggling babies and headed them for the heated, medical, isolation center(as Im now terming it) The tray held. 1 Ness Fantasy Gold Im not sure if this is a crown from the Original plant I tried to kill, or from a leaf I started 2 Merlot 3 Ramblin Maytime 1 Chantana-I dont even know the discription of this one. I may have to post on this and see if anyone can give detail's. 4 Sunrise Waltz 3 Ramblin Ruby 3 Ramblin Cream Pie These are the babies before heat isolation treatment Here they are in position on the new rack after I cleaned the tray and dome. This is where they will get the heated treatment. Im anxious to see if I get a growth spurt. I think the problem with the babies in the first place is that they were taken from mom to soon, potted up in to large of cup, and dome was not applied long enough. So lets see what happens. UPDATE 6/19/07 This project didn't turn out to good. The added heat, added extra humidity which dripped down and burnt my plants, and also the added humidity kept the plant's to moist. However I will post a picture because there was a increase growth spurt within the first week of the experiment. I wil try this experiment again under more supervised conditions. | |

| | Tina's Journal 5/11/2007 Im expecting a box from Linda today at Bloomin Jungle. I've only ordered leave's from her in the past so this will be my first box of plugs from her. This weekend with Mother's day, it should be pretty busy. I'll be potting up plant's, some of which I got started last night. But I've got a tray of large plants read for fresh dirt, and I've still got the strep of babies to tend to. I've got at least 3 to 4 boxes that are going to the post office on Monday or Tuesday. So I've got lot's of thing's lined up to keep me busy. | |

| | Tina's Journal 5/12/2007 I was incredible busy today playing in the dirt. I repotted many plants the last two afternoon's and Evening's. I went to the Portlandia Violet sale, and picked up some little goodies this morning. I didn't think I'd find anything I'd like, but was pleasently pleased to come home with Island Hide Away Paradise Lost Ma's Grinning Grape Trail Along Smitten Kitten. Teeny Bopper. So I was very happy...Happy Mother's Day to me. Once I got home I had plenty of work, getting everything disbudded, stripped and repotted for isolation. I dont take no chances with bugs. I would be horrified to lose, or have to treat my collection due to unwanted pest, I would find it discourageing. Plus I like to get everthing cleaned up and potted into my prefered mix. I also got the box of plug's I had ordered in from Bloomin Jungle on Friday Caribbean Blue Falling Raindrops Frosted Whisper Golden Threads Granger Garden's Ebb Tide Grangers Sylvan Blue Ness Antique Rose Ness Blue Wave Ness Red Velvet My Fair Lady Aly's Rose Baby Spanish Moss I checked on a bunch of Leave's I had down, some had rotted. I think due to, to much condensation. So less Humidity Im thinking. Im really starting to enjoy this Journal, nice to have a place to keep track of the coming and going's of the collection. Not to mention a good place to ramble, lost in my own thought's. Oh I got these really cut little pots with hangers on them. They are really cute for your little Mini, or tiny one's. | |

| | Tina's Journal 5/15/2007 Today I packed up two boxes, one for a secret swap of 20-25 plants, and one for a newbie Im helping out. I hope they arrive in good condition. I only packed things with newspaper for insolation, so I hope they dont get to cold/or hot ..Keeping my fingers crossed . Packing plant's is rather time consuming, Im sure there has to be a faster way then the way Im doing it. It took me all day to pack 2 boxes.. I barely made it in time to the post office with these plants before they closed. Not to mention what an increase in Priority Mail..$11.00 for one box Ah well, what can ya do Msn was giving me the run around So I couldn't get onto VV, things are better, and Im back to my DOSE of Violet Voice. | |

| | Tina's Journal 6/17/2007 It's been a month since my last post here, my how time flies. I've been busy the last month, I've done several swoop's, trade's, and a couple ebay sale's, so it's been fun. My collection has really grown, I've tried to branch out of just growing trailer's, but now Im wondering if I've made the right decision...At least I know our next two club sale's I should have plenty to offer. I just love my trailer's, and I think I might have more fun concentrating my collection on these beauties. Yesterday was my bday, Marc added some additional space for my violet's...It's such a nice gift to get additional room for plant's. And this room didn't cost very much which was even better. Here is the Window I grow in, as well as do all my potting and plant work in. The picture came out rather dark. My plant's love this window it offers good North/Western light so I've been trying to utilize the window space. Yesterday we added a few rod's above the window so I can actually now hang plants..If you look at the picture, you can see a pot hanging in the background. And then a picture of Galiwinku hanging, this method has really free'd up some major counter room Here are a couple picture's of the plant's that currently reside in the window. Usually the window is where I display bloomer's, or plant's that need extra attention. | |
